Barbecue Flavored Chips Taste Awful
63For Your Nostalgic Tastebuds
Today is the day that we persons bear the true light on the myth of barbecue flavored chips. They don't actually taste good--we just want them to taste good, so thus we lie to ourselves. See, potato chips that are flavored barbecue, honey barbecue, or even mesquite (yes even mesquite) just don't actually taste good. They just remind of us great times out doors eating some fresh barbecued pork at the park on a Sunday. We connect that good time with chips, and voila! It suddenly tastes good.
I mean seriously, the chips taste like someone scrapped the charred meat off the barbecue and threw it in the blender with once tasty chips. It doesn't taste rich, it just tastes like an awful flavor that everyone expects to taste good.
It's like when you put mustard on your hot dog, and you say to yourself "Geez, this would be a good flavor for chips!". Okay yes, eating a dog at the ball game is good times--but it shouldn't be your epiphany for a potato chip flavor.
That is essentially what snack manufacturers have done to chips with barbecue flavoring; they said "Hey, I bet this flavor would taste good for chips!". No you ding dong! Not every auxiliary flavoring for your nostalgic taste-buds is compatible with chip flavorings!
Get it out of your heads people. Some flavors just don't work with chips. What do you guys think? What are some supposed excellent current chip flavors that you feel just shouldn't be touched with a ten-foot pole?
WHAT?

I like bbq chips.
I like Pringles BBQ chips and it seems the two who commented before me also like the flavor. So what now Mike? :D
If the moment it reminds you of is a taste sensation and
that taste sensation you remember tasted good
why doesn't the taste of the potato chip not equal good?
a+b=c?
I bet you don't like eating, hmmm, I won't say that. But I love most Q'd chips, like the flavor and even mkae my own, nyaaah! like limberger too, just hold yer nose
I'm not a fan - give me a cheese and onion any day (-:
Waaaaaaaaaait a minute! I love barbecued potato chips. Those pictured here, the Fritos, don't work for me - but barbecued potato chips do work for me. But then, I even ask for barbecue sauce when I order a chicken caesar salad. The waitress says, "So, you don't want the caesar dressing on the salad?" I say, "Yes, put the dressing on the salad. I use the barbecue sauce for dunking the chicken into it." She says, "Oh, I never heard of that one." I love barbecue on many things - including chips. We can, as they say, agree to disagree, Direxmd.
I agree with you. BBQ flavored chips are nasty. Another one?
Pizza flavored...
Pizza flavored? Like what kind of pizza, and what flavor does pizza have besides all of the ingredients combined? You simply can't fake that with artificial flavoring.
nice hub......
